A Delicious Combination of Spices, Spinach and Lentils to make a Mouth-Watering Dal!
3 Tbsp Patak’s Medium Spice Paste
250g Red Split Lentils
4 Tbsp Oil
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Chopped Fresh Tomato or 200g Chopped Canned Tomatoes
3 Finely Sliced Garlic Cloves (Optional)
220g Baby Spinach Leaves
2 Tbsp Butter (Optional)
1. Wash the lentils in running water till the water is clear. Drain and keep aside.
2. In a deep pan heat oil and crackle cumin seeds and then cook sliced garlic (optional) till light brown.
3. Add lentils, Patak’s Medium Spice Paste, fresh tomato and water. Heat and bring to boil. Cook uncovered for 20-25 minutes on medium heat or till the lentils are cooked.
4. Add fresh baby spinach, cook for another 5 minutes, finish with butter (if using), check the seasoning and serve hot with rice as a main or as a side dish with your meal.
